Kashi Vishwanath Temple to Remain Closed on March 3 for Lunar Eclipse

Varanasi, March 2: The Kashi Vishwanath Temple will be closed on March 3 due to the first lunar eclipse of the year. The temple administration has already issued an advisory regarding this event.

Most temples across the country will remain closed during the day on March 3. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple has announced the specific timings for its closure. If you plan to visit the temple to seek blessings from Baba, it is essential to check the temple’s schedule beforehand.

Chief Executive Officer Vishvabhushan Mishra discussed the temple’s preparations for the eclipse in an exclusive interview with a news agency. He stated that the temple will be closed for a few hours.

According to him, “As per the temple’s tradition, the doors are closed two hours before the eclipse begins, and they reopen after the eclipse ends. Therefore, on March 3, the temple will close at 4:30 PM and will reopen at 7:15 PM after purification and rituals. During this period, devotees will not be able to have darshan. We urge all devotees to plan their visits according to the closure timings.”

In Ayodhya, all temples will also be closed due to the eclipse, but they will reopen in the evening after the eclipse concludes. The doors of the Ram Temple will also be closed on that day. If you intend to visit any temple on March 3, it is advisable to avoid going during the eclipse.

The eclipse in India will begin at 3:20 PM and last until 6:47 PM. The sutak period will commence nine hours before the eclipse, so it is recommended to refrain from any auspicious activities and avoid cooking or eating during the eclipse.
