KaraiKudi, May 5: Congress MP Karti Chidambaram congratulated Vijay and his newly formed party, Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), on their remarkable electoral debut in Tamil Nadu.
The trends from the state assembly elections revealed a significant lead for TVK, delivering a major blow to the alliances led by DMK and AIADMK. This lead marks a substantial shift in the state’s political landscape.
Speaking to reporters, Chidambaram noted that the public has cast their votes for change. He praised the impressive success of TVK’s leader.
He added that the people of Tamil Nadu have voted for transformation, and now it is the mandate of TVK to secure an executive majority and provide a good government for the citizens. He expressed confidence that the public has high expectations from them.
Chidambaram emphasized that Vijay has broken many traditional norms in politics.
As the counting in Tamil Nadu continues, TVK has maintained its strong lead. According to trends from the Election Commission at 8:36 PM, the party had won 79 seats and was leading in 28 others.
Moreover, TVK’s leader was also ahead in the Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East assembly constituencies, from which he contested.
Additionally, the Congress MP stated that his party must learn several lessons from the election campaign and assembly elections.
He remarked that as a political party, they will take all lessons from this campaign. However, he noted that Vijay’s achievement should not be underestimated, reiterating that it is a remarkable success for their party.
