
Bengaluru, May 15: The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, V. Ambukumar, announced that the state will involve 59,050 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in the Voter List Revision process (SVR). By May 12, 2026, approximately 5,55,74,064 voters are expected to be covered in Karnataka.
The Chief Electoral Officer’s office has urged voters to fully cooperate with the BLOs during the door-to-door verification process.
Notably, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed the conduct of voter list revision in Karnataka as part of a nationwide amendment campaign covering 16 states and three Union Territories.
According to a statement from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, the voter list revision in Karnataka will be conducted in reference to the eligibility date of October 1, 2026, as notified by the Election Commission on May 14, 2026.
The revision process will commence from June 20 to 29, 2026, with preparation, training, and printing activities. The BLOs will distribute and collect census forms door-to-door from June 30 to July 29, 2026.
The rationalization of polling stations will be completed by July 29, while the draft voter list will be published on August 5, 2026.
The period for filing claims and objections is set from August 5 to September 4, 2026. The notice phase and resolution of claims and objections will continue until October 3, 2026, with the final voter list to be published on October 7.
The Election Commission described the revision process as participatory and transparent, involving voters, political parties, and election officials. During the revision, the BLOs will distribute and collect census forms door-to-door.
Currently, 25,284 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) have been appointed by recognized political parties. The Commission has urged all recognized political parties to appoint a BLA for each polling station to ensure active participation and transparency in the process.
