Karnataka govt to give Rs 25 lakh to slain Harsha’s family

Shivamogga, March 3 : Karnataka RDPR Minister KS Eshwarappa on Thursday said the state government has decided to give compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the family of slain Hindu activist Harsha, who was brutally hacked to death on February 20. “The compensation of Rs 25 lakh to Harsha’s family was comm cated to me by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai over phone. Me and BS Yediyurappa will visit Harsha’s family and hand over the compensation amount to them,” he told reporters here. Apart from this, Rs 60 lakh has been deposited via online donations in the account of Harsha’s mother. The murder of Hindu activist had resulted in widespread violence in the district, prompting the local administration to clamp prohibitory orders. The city limped back to normalcy on February 28. So far, police have arrested 10 persons in the case. Srirama Sena Founder Pramod Muthalik has criticised the BJP government for not protecting the Hindu activists. He also demanded ban on Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Popular Front of India (PFI) and suspected that these radical Islamist organisations were behind Harsha’s murder. BDN RJ
