New Delhi: The sudden demise of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash has triggered a political storm across the country. The opposition parties have demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the crash. In response, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut strongly rebutted Mamata’s comments, describing them as inappropriate and ill-timed.
Kangana Ranaut said, “We are all in mourning over this tragic accident that happened early in the morning. Everyone in Parliament is talking about it because many of us travel by chartered planes and helicopters. Such an incident is frightening for anyone, and at such a sensitive moment, making such low remarks is uncalled for. A little restraint is necessary.”
Earlier, Kangana had expressed her condolences over Ajit Pawar’s death, calling the incident deeply painful and sorrowful.
Following Ajit Pawar’s demise, Mamata Banerjee not only expressed grief but also criticised the central government, raising several questions about the crash. She questioned why the aircraft was not properly inspected and how the accident occurred near Baramati, a location considered safe for landing.
Mamata demanded a probe into the incident, stating that she does not trust any government investigation agency and therefore called for the Supreme Court’s intervention.
The West Bengal Chief Minister also claimed that Ajit Pawar was reportedly unhappy with the BJP and was planning to leave the party soon to join his uncle Sharad Pawar for a new political journey. She said this sudden death raises many questions and warrants a detailed investigation.
Besides Mamata Banerjee, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also demanded an inquiry into the crash, suggesting that a conspiracy cannot be ruled out given the stature of the politician involved.
