Pune, August 13: The second day of the 16th Hockey India Junior Women’s National Championship 2026 saw victories for Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, while matches involving Uttarakhand and Bihar ended in a draw. The competition in Divisions ‘B’ and ‘C’ was intense, with three matches decided by walkovers.
In a Pool B match of Division ‘C’, Puducherry Hockey triumphed over Jammu and Kashmir Hockey with a score of 3-1. Manjinder scored a hat-trick for Puducherry, netting goals in the 22nd, 31st, and 46th minutes. Jammu and Kashmir’s Sonali Devi managed to score in the sixth minute, but Puducherry maintained their lead to secure all three points.
In Division ‘B’, Pool A, Andhra Pradesh Hockey defeated Delhi Hockey 2-1 in a closely contested match. Rajeshwari Yadav Sai Dhrana opened the scoring for Andhra Pradesh in the 19th minute, followed by Anikha Bennu doubling the lead in the 30th minute. Delhi’s Nisha scored in the 33rd minute, but Andhra Pradesh held on to their advantage for the win.
Assam Hockey showcased an impressive offensive display in Division ‘B’, Pool A, winning 4-2 against Kerala Hockey. Tanya Chaurasia shone for Assam, scoring all four goals in the 17th, 41st, 44th, and 44th minutes. Kerala’s Jyoti Jaya netted both goals in the 42nd and 51st minutes.
Karnataka Hockey achieved a remarkable 5-1 victory over the Tamil Nadu Hockey Unit in Division ‘B’, Pool B. Vishwani Anil scored a hat-trick for Karnataka in the 18th, 21st, and 36th minutes. Lakshmi and Manish Ponnamma added one goal each to strengthen Karnataka’s lead. Tamil Nadu’s only goal came from Priyadarshini in the fourth minute.
In another match of Division ‘B’, Pool B, the encounter between Hockey Uttarakhand and Hockey Bihar ended in a 1-1 draw. Diksha gave Hockey Uttarakhand the lead in the 40th minute, but Siddhi Kumari equalized for Hockey Bihar, resulting in both teams sharing the points.
In Division ‘C’, Pool A, the match between Hockey Arunachal and Hockey Rajasthan ended in a 0-0 draw. Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Hockey secured wins via walkover. In another match of Division ‘C’, Pool A, Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Hockey won 5-0 against the Tripura Olympic Association by walkover. In Division ‘C’, Pool B, Hockey Gujarat also won 5-0 against Telangana Hockey via walkover.
