Joy in Assams Tea Gardens as BJP Secures Victory

Dibrugarh, May 4: The resounding victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Assam Assembly elections has brought smiles to the faces of women working in the state’s tea gardens. Female workers from the Manohari tea estate in Dibrugarh district expressed their hopes and confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government.

Anju Mura, a worker at the Manohari tea estate, shared her excitement during an interview, saying, “We were very happy when PM Modi visited our garden. We didn’t know he was coming. He asked us if we had been to Ayodhya. We replied, ‘No,’ and he said, ‘Will you go when invited?’ We said, ‘Yes, why wouldn’t we?’ Then we were taken to Ayodhya by the Prime Minister.”

She added, “Now that the voting is over and BJP has won, we demand that they continue their good work even better.”

Another female worker expressed her joy, stating, “We feel very good today. Our BJP government has won again in Assam, and we thank them immensely. We are hopeful that the government will fulfill our demands, and our lives will improve.”

Monika Mura enthusiastically remarked, “The government has won, and all of Assam is happy. We want Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. We need land rights and an increase in our wages.”

These women from the tea gardens noted that they have benefited significantly from various central and state government schemes in recent years. They mentioned improvements in roads, electricity, housing, and healthcare. They also expressed hope that the new government would prioritize their long-standing issues, particularly ST status and land rights.

Women from the tribal community residing in Dibrugarh’s tea gardens view the BJP’s victory as linked to their future. They stated that several welfare schemes initiated by the Modi government have directly benefited tea workers.

The tea garden regions of Assam have historically been a crucial voting bloc for the BJP. With this latest victory, the party’s hold in these areas has strengthened. The female workers expressed their desire to maintain this momentum of development and hope that the new government will fulfill their dreams.
