Joint Operation Leads to Arrest of Three Robbers in Kathua

Jammu, May 8: In a coordinated effort, the Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir police have apprehended three suspects linked to multiple robbery cases in the national capital. This information was disclosed by officials on Friday.

According to a police statement, the trio was arrested on Thursday during a joint operation conducted in Kathua district. They are accused of involvement in several robbery incidents in Delhi.

Police officials revealed that an FIR has been filed against the suspects at the North Dwarka police station in Delhi. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sahil, Anshul, and Himanshu. After committing their crimes, they fled Delhi and made their way to Jammu & Kashmir.

A senior police officer indicated that following intelligence regarding the suspects’ activities, checks were intensified at various toll plazas and strategic locations. Details of the vehicles were shared between the Lakhanpur and Kathua police units.

The officer noted that the suspects crossed the Nasri area on the Jammu-Kashmir highway around 4:30 AM on Wednesday. However, they managed to evade police presence, likely due to prior knowledge of heavy deployment in Lakhanpur.

To capture the suspects, the Kathua police and local authorities devised a strategy on Thursday. They intentionally reduced police visibility at the Lakhanpur checkpoint and toll plaza, creating the impression that officers were preoccupied with another homicide investigation.

Seizing the opportunity, the suspects headed towards Kathua on Thursday evening, where police teams successfully intercepted them in a coordinated operation.

The officer reported that the suspects attempted to flee during the operation, even colliding with a Delhi police vehicle. However, police secured alternative routes, including the Bhagatli route, leading to their successful capture.

Authorities hailed this operation as a significant success, achieved through collaboration between the Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir police.

Following the arrests, both the Delhi police and local authorities conducted a thorough search of the suspects and their vehicle, but no weapons or suspicious items were recovered.

Officials confirmed that the Delhi police will further investigate additional crimes related to the robbery cases, the attempted escape, and damage to police vehicles.
