Jammu, April 17 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday evening left for the national capital after he was briefed by the security agencies ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on April 24 in Samba district of Jammu region. Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Pali village and address a gathering including over 30,000 Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members of Jammu and Kashmir besides around 700 panchayats across the country virtually on April 24. “Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor this afternoon chaired a security review and the arrangements made during a meeting at the Raj Bhawan in which he was briefed about the security scenario by the top brass including the Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Home Secretary Dr R K Goyal and DGP J&K Police, Dilbag Singh,” official sources said. The sources added that the top brass from administration, police and intelligence agencies briefed the Lieutenant Governor about the preparations and arrangements including security in place ahead of the VVIP visit. The Prime Minister is also expected to launch industrial investments worth Rs 70,000 crore and inaugurate and lay the foundation for some developmental projects including two power projects. “The Lieutenant Governor left for New Delhi ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit this evening and is expected to meet the on Home Minister Amit Shah,” the sources added. Sinha also directed for settling issues of the Panchayat Members at the earliest during a meeting chaired by him. “The Lieutenant Governor has directed the administration officers to address the issue of liabilities under MGNREGA and infrastructural deficiencies in Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs),” sources said, adding that he laid thrust on the matters being raised by the Panchayat members time to time ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit. on Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on April 11 with a high level Central team comprising senior officers of the Government of India visited the venue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed rally. Singh had said that the choice of Palli Panchayat as the venue of the national level Panchayati Raj Diwas indicates the high priority given by Prime Minister to Jammu and Kashmir and his government’s focus to strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutions in the on Territory.
