Kolkata, August 18: West Bengal minister Dilip Ghosh has reacted sharply to the Jharkhand government’s decision to cancel the JSSC-CGL exam and all tests conducted by TDP. He stated that the government should have made this decision two weeks ago, avoiding unnecessary drama that has troubled students.
Ghosh questioned, “Why did the Jharkhand government take so long to make this decision? As soon as protests began in Delhi, the government started discussions. Ministers met with the protesters multiple times. However, the local government was not willing to consider the students’ demands. If the government had engaged in talks earlier, the situation would not have escalated.”
He added, “When such a large protest occurs, it causes distress for everyone. Students fell ill and faced police action. Why create such drama? Is there a lack of confidence in the government? Now, they must fulfill the promises they made.”
In response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Ghosh remarked, “He should have taken the initiative to assure students, saying, ‘We are with you, don’t worry,’ or the Chief Minister should have intervened to say, ‘Let’s address their demands and talk.’ Writing letters and engaging in dialogue is pointless.”
Dilip Ghosh also targeted TMC MP Kirti Azad for requesting a gun license for self-defense. He said, “Let the DM allow him to carry a revolver. Where will he take it? He is afraid to visit his constituency, Bardhaman, and now he is asking for a gun. People in Bengal should not be shown firearms. Here, people have been playing with guns since childhood; there are firearms in every village.”
On the formation of the new BJP central committee, Ghosh expressed, “I welcome and congratulate all the officials of the BJP central committee. This is a new team, and under their leadership, the party will grow stronger and achieve better results.”
