Ranchi, February 19: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed deep emotion over the organ donation of ten-month-old Alin Sherin Abraham from Kerala, who was declared brain dead following an accident. In a heartfelt social media post, he described her parents’ decision as an exceptional example of humanity.
He stated, “The pain of losing a child is unbearable for any parent, but choosing to donate organs during such a time shows remarkable courage, sacrifice, and compassion.”
CM Soren emphasized the need for a robust organ donation policy in Jharkhand, referencing Alin’s tragic incident. On February 5, while traveling with her parents and relatives in Kottayam, Kerala, Alin was severely injured in a road accident and later pronounced brain dead.
Following this, her parents, Sherin N John and Arun Abraham, made the courageous decision to donate their daughter’s organs. Alin’s liver, kidneys, corneas, and heart valves were donated, giving four children a new lease on life. Her funeral was held with state honors at St. Thomas CSI Church in Nedungadappally.
Soren remarked that this act was not just about organ donation but a testament to unwavering faith in humanity. He noted that although Alin’s life was brief, she has become a beacon of hope for many families.
He paid tribute to the late girl and praised her parents for their bravery. The Chief Minister also acknowledged the sensitivity of Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who honored Alin’s funeral with state recognition, further amplifying this vital message.
Soren concluded by stating that organ donation is a monumental gift of life, and the Jharkhand government will take necessary steps to strengthen the state’s organ donation policy.
