The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened the registration process for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 (April session) starting today, 1 February 2026. Aspirants aiming for admission into prestigious engineering institutes such as IITs, NITs, and IIITs can now apply online on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in.
Key Dates
The April session offers another opportunity for students who either missed out or performed below expectations in the January session, as well as for first-time candidates.
Registration Start Date: 1 February 2026
Last Date to Apply: 25 February 2026 (until 9:00 PM)
Last Date for Fee Payment: 25 February 2026 (until 11:50 PM)
Exam Dates: 1 April to 10 April 2026 (tentatively 2 to 9 April)
Admit Cards: Will be issued three days before the exam.
Application Fees
The fee structure for various categories is as follows:
General/OBC/EWS (Male): ₹1000
General/OBC/EWS (Female): ₹800
SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender: ₹500
Note: Candidates applying for more than one paper, like B.Tech and B.Arch, will need to pay double the fee.
New Changes in Registration Process
This year, NTA has introduced new measures to enhance security and transparency:
• Live Photo Capture: Candidates must now click their live photo via webcam during the application process. Uploading an old photo is no longer sufficient.
• Aadhaar Verification: Matching Aadhaar data with school records through e-KYC is mandatory at the time of registration.
• For Session 1 Applicants: Candidates who registered for the January session can log in using their previous application number and password to pay the fee for Session 2 without filling the details again.
Expected Cut-Off and Expert Advice
Based on the analysis of the January session, experts predict a slight rise in cut-off marks due to intense competition. The expected percentile for the general category is between 93 and 95.
Candidates are advised to complete their applications well before the deadline to avoid last-minute server issues. It is also important to save the confirmation page after submitting the form.
