Jaishankar Meets US Envoy Sergio Gore to Discuss Bilateral Ties

New Delhi: India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Sergio Gore, the US Ambassador to India, in New Delhi. This marks their second meeting within a week. Jaishankar welcomed Ambassador Gore and expressed confidence that he would contribute to strengthening India-US relations.

Sharing his thoughts on social media platform X, EAM Jaishankar wrote, “It was a pleasure to meet Sergio Gore, US Ambassador to India, in New Delhi today. We discussed several dimensions of our partnership. I welcomed him and expressed confidence that he will help deepen India-US ties.”

Ambassador Sergio Gore described the defence partnership between India and the US as robust. He highlighted the 10-year pact signed in 2025, stating it will further deepen bilateral ties. Gore made these remarks after meeting Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

On X, the US envoy posted, “Last year, the US and India signed a 10-year defence pact that will significantly deepen our defence partnership. Joint exercises continue, and additional sales are underway. It is a strong relationship. Thanks to Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh for hosting me.”

Earlier this week, Sergio Gore also attended India’s 77th Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi. He described the event as a celebration of India’s Constitution and democratic spirit.

In a post on X, the ambassador said, “Happy Republic Day, India. I was honoured to attend the parade for the first time, a celebration of India’s Constitution and democratic spirit. It was a pleasure to see American-made aircraft flying in the Indian skies, a powerful symbol of the strength of the US-India strategic partnership.”

On January 25, Jaishankar met with Sergio Gore and a US congressional delegation comprising Mike Rogers, Adam Smith, and Jimmy Patronis in New Delhi. The discussions covered strengthening bilateral relations, developments in the Indo-Pacific region, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Following the talks, Jaishankar posted on X, “Had a good discussion with the US Congressional delegation including Representatives Mike Rogers, Adam Smith, and Jimmy Patronis, along with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore. Various aspects of India-US relations, the Indo-Pacific, and the Ukraine conflict were discussed. Congressional engagement has always been an important aspect of our relationship.”
