Mathura, August 11: The ISKCON Temple has issued a dress advisory for its visitors. Ravi Lochan Das, the temple’s Public Relations Officer, emphasized that wearing traditional attire is mandatory for all devotees. He urged attendees to come dressed in respectful and traditional clothing.
He noted that a sign regarding traditional attire had been displayed for a year, but many may have only recently noticed it. “The purpose of this sign is to inform people to come in traditional clothing, adhering to the principles of Sanatan Dharma. It is important to highlight that everyone should follow this dress code,” he stated.
Das explained that women are expected to wear traditional sarees, while men should opt for pants and shirts or dhoti-kurta combinations. “I believe it is essential for people to respect the traditions of Sanatan Dharma,” he added.
Yudhishthir Govinda Das, a trustee of ISKCON Delhi and the Country Director of Communications, also shared his views on the dress code. He clarified that it applies to both men and women.
“This dress code is applicable to everyone. When we visit a temple or a sacred place, we come with devotion, faith, and dedication towards God. Every place has its sanctity and decorum. This is not limited to ISKCON; similar rules apply at places like the Anant Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Trivandrum, the Balaji Temple in Tirupati, or Jagannath Puri,” he explained.
He further noted, “Whenever you visit a spiritual site, individuals are immersed in worship, dedicating themselves to God. This principle is not confined to temples, churches, or mosques; even offices, hospitals, and military forces have their dress codes. Every place holds its significance, and we are simply asking for respect towards that.”
