Irfan Pathan Praises Rinku Singhs Game-Changing Performance in IPL 2026

New Delhi, April 27: In an exhilarating match on Sunday, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) triumphed over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a nail-biting Super Over during the 38th encounter of IPL 2026. Rinku Singh emerged as the star of the match, scoring an impressive 83 runs off 51 balls.

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan lauded Rinku Singh’s batting prowess, highlighting how his four sixes in the final over turned the tide of the game. Speaking on ‘JioHostar’, Pathan remarked, “Rinku’s awareness in that last over was remarkable. He anticipated the bowler’s strategy, adjusted his position, and collected runs on both sides of the wicket. Those four sixes completely changed the match’s direction. Without those 26 runs, KKR wouldn’t have secured the win.”

Pathan emphasized Rinku’s sense of responsibility at the crease. He stated, “What stood out was his ability to bat with responsibility. There was a moment when he decided to retain the strike. He also showed confidence in finishing the over. Rinku performed well under pressure. His ability to understand the situation and control the match at crucial moments makes him exceptional.”

When Rinku came to bat, KKR was struggling at 31 for 4. However, he steadied the innings, remaining at one end until the end. In the final over, Rinku hit four consecutive sixes off LSG bowler Digvijay Rathi, helping KKR reach 155 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. LSG matched the score, leading to a tie.

In the Super Over, Sunil Narine dismissed Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram in just three balls. Rinku Singh then stepped up for KKR and hit a boundary off the very first ball of the Super Over, securing KKR’s second consecutive victory of the season. He was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding performance.
