Initially, Ireland struggled, losing four wickets for just 51 runs in 7.1 overs. It seemed unlikely they would surpass the 100-run mark. However, captain Lorcan Tucker, alongside Gareth Delany, formed a crucial partnership of 64 runs for the fifth wicket, laying the foundation for a competitive score. Tucker scored 50 runs off 36 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 5 fours before being dismissed.
Following Tucker’s departure, Delany added 49 runs with George Dockrell for the sixth wicket. Dockrell managed 19 runs off 10 balls before getting out. Delany contributed significantly with 49 runs from 32 balls, including 3 sixes and 3 fours, helping Ireland reach a total of 182 runs. Liam McCarthy was dismissed for 7 runs. Ireland finished their innings at 182 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.
On the Indian side, fast bowler Harshit Rana delivered an impressive performance, taking 3 wickets for just 24 runs in 4 overs. Arshdeep Singh claimed 2 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs. Shivam Dube took 1 wicket for 18 runs in 3 overs. Washington Sundar had an expensive outing, conceding 19 runs in just 1 over without taking a wicket. Axar Patel took 2 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs. Prasidh Krishna was the most expensive bowler for India, giving away 57 runs in 4 overs without claiming any wickets.
