Tehran, June 2: Tensions between the United States and Iran show no signs of easing. While U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that negotiations with Iran were nearing their final stages, Iranian media reported that Tehran’s negotiating team has ceased communication with the U.S. through mediators.
On Monday, Tasnim News Agency stated that the Iranian team halted messaging due to ongoing attacks on Lebanon.
The Iranian news outlet further reported that Iran and its Resistance Front, which includes Shia allies in Yemen, Lebanon, and Iraq, have devised a plan to punish Israel and its supporters by fully blocking the Strait of Hormuz and activating other fronts, including Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
If Iran’s proxy forces in Yemen open a new front in the conflict, the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, a crucial shipping chokepoint controlling maritime traffic towards the Suez Canal, would be a primary target.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi referenced Israeli operations in Lebanon on Monday, stating, “There is a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts. The U.S. and Israel are responsible for the consequences of any violations.”
According to Tasnim News Agency, Iran’s Central Military Command, Khatam al-Anbia, has warned residents in northern Israel to evacuate the area if they wish to avoid harm.
The outlet cited Brigadier General Ali Abdullahi, who stated, “Given the repeated violations of the ceasefire by the government, we warn residents of military settlements in the northern sectors and occupied areas that if they do not want to face damage, they should evacuate the area.”
