
Mumbai, May 12: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Tim David has been fined 30% of his match fee for violating Level 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct. Additionally, he has received two demerit points.
The incident occurred during the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 10. A video surfaced on social media showing Tim David making an obscene gesture from the RCB dugout, prompting disciplinary action.
David was found guilty of breaching Article 2.6 of the Code, which pertains to gestures that are obscene, offensive, or insulting.
An official statement from the IPL read, “Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Tim David has been fined 30% of his match fee and awarded two demerit points for violating Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct. Tim was found guilty of breaching Article 2.6, which relates to the use of gestures that are obscene, offensive, or insulting. Tim David has accepted the penalty imposed by match referee Amit Sharma.”
This marks the second instance this season where David has faced a fine for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Previously, he was fined 25% of his match fee and received one demerit point for failing to comply with umpire instructions during a match against MI at Wankhede Stadium.
In this match, Mumbai Indians suffered a 2-wicket defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore. This loss has eliminated MI and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) from the title race.
