IPL 2026: Rajasthan Royals Secure Fourth Place with Victory Over LSG

New Delhi, May 20: The 64th match of IPL 2026 took place on Tuesday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, featuring the Rajasthan Royals (RR) against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Thanks to an explosive performance by Vaibhav Suryavanshi, RR triumphed over LSG by 7 wickets, securing the fourth position in the points table.

Winning against LSG was crucial for RR to strengthen their chances of reaching the playoffs. RR captain Yashasvi Jaiswal won the toss and opted to bowl first. LSG, batting first, posted a formidable total of 220 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, bolstered by Mitchell Marsh’s 96 and Josh Inglis’s 60 runs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a pivotal role in RR’s victory, scoring 93 runs off just 38 balls, including 10 sixes and 7 fours. RR chased down the target, scoring 225 runs for 3 wickets in 19.1 overs. Alongside Vaibhav, Jaiswal contributed 43 runs off 23 balls, while wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel added 53 runs off 38 balls.

This victory marked RR’s seventh win in the season’s 13 matches, bringing them to 14 points and solidifying their position as strong contenders for the playoffs.

In the points table, RCB leads with 18 points, followed by Gujarat Titans with 16 points and Sunrisers Hyderabad also with 16 points. All three teams have already qualified for the playoffs, each with one match remaining.

Punjab Kings sits fifth with 13 points from 13 matches, while Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals are sixth and seventh, respectively, both also with 12 points and one match left.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has 11 points from 12 matches and is in eighth place, with two matches remaining, giving them a chance to reach 15 points. Both Punjab Kings and KKR could still qualify for the playoffs. If RR and Punjab lose their next matches and KKR wins both, KKR could qualify with 15 points. Conversely, if RR wins their next match, they will qualify directly. If RR and KKR lose their next matches while Punjab wins, Punjab could still make it to the playoffs with 15 points.

Mumbai Indians have 8 points from 12 matches, while LSG also has 8 points from 13 matches, both teams are now out of the playoff race.
