Kolkata, April 6: The 12th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings ended without a result due to rain. Consequently, both teams shared the points, each receiving 1 point.
On Monday at Eden Gardens, KKR won the toss and opted to bat first. However, they lost their first wicket at a mere score of 12. In the fourth ball of the second over, Javier Bartlett dismissed Finn Allen for 6 runs.
Cameron Green, who came in at number three, managed to hit a four off his first ball but was caught out on the next delivery. Bartlett claimed two wickets in his first over.
Captain Ajinkya Rahane (not out 8) and Angkrish Raghuwanshi (not out 7) attempted to stabilize the innings. By the time rain interrupted the game after 3.4 overs, KKR had scored 25 runs with 2 wickets down.
Rain ceased around 10:30 PM, and after a half-hour delay, umpires consulted both captains, who were seen shaking hands. Had the match been reduced to 5 overs, KKR might have faced a disadvantage, as they had only 1.2 overs left and a low score.
With the points split, KKR has opened their account in the tournament. They now sit at the 8th position with 1 point from 3 matches, having lost their first match to Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets and then faced a 65-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
On the other hand, Punjab Kings lead the points table with 5 points from 3 matches. They secured a 3-wicket victory against Gujarat Titans in their opening match, followed by a 5-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings.
Punjab Kings will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next match on April 11, while Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Lucknow Super Giants on April 9.
