New Delhi, May 9: In the 51st match of IPL 2026, the Delhi Capitals (DC) faced off against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. Batting first after losing the toss, DC managed to score 142 runs, losing 8 wickets in the process.
DC had a promising start with an opening partnership between KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka, who together added 49 runs off 30 balls. Rahul was dismissed for 23 runs off 14 balls. Nitish Rana struggled at the crease, scoring only 8 runs before being out. Sunil Narine sent Samir Rizvi back to the pavilion for just 3 runs.
Tristan Stubbs also fell cheaply, scoring only 2 runs. However, Pathum Nissanka stood firm, scoring 50 runs off 29 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes. After losing 5 wickets for just 89 runs, DC found stability through captain Axar Patel and Ashutosh Sharma, who formed a crucial partnership of 39 runs for the sixth wicket.
Axar faced 22 balls but could only manage 11 runs before getting out. In contrast, Ashutosh played a brilliant innings, contributing 39 runs off 28 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Mitchell Starc was run out without scoring, while Vipraj and Lungi Ngidi remained not out at 3 and 1 run, respectively. For KKR, Anukul Roy and Kartik Tyagi took two wickets each, while Vaibhav Arora and Sunil Narine claimed one wicket each.
