
New Delhi, May 16: In an exciting match of IPL 2026, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) triumphed over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven wickets on Friday. Mitchell Marsh was the star of the match, scoring an impressive 90 runs off just 38 balls.
With this performance, Marsh has moved ahead of Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill in the race for the Orange Cap. He has accumulated 467 runs at a strike rate of 162 in 12 matches this season, placing him sixth among the highest run-scorers in IPL 2026. CSK’s Sanju Samson, who contributed 20 runs in this match, is now eighth overall with 450 runs at a strike rate of 164 across 12 games.
Currently, the Orange Cap is held by Heinrich Klaasen, the wicketkeeper-batsman from Sunrisers Hyderabad, who has scored 508 runs at a strike rate of 153 in 12 matches. Sai Sudharsan follows closely in second place with 501 runs. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s star player Virat Kohli ranks third with 484 runs at a strike rate of 165, while Abhishek Sharma from Sunrisers Hyderabad is fourth with 481 runs. KL Rahul rounds out the top five with 477 runs.
In the race for the Purple Cap, RCB’s fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar remains in the lead, having taken 22 wickets in 12 matches this season. Kagiso Rabada from Gujarat Titans follows with 21 wickets, while CSK’s Anshul Kamboj is third with 19 wickets. Rashid Khan holds the fourth position with 16 wickets, alongside LSG’s Prince Yadav and KKR’s Kartik Tyagi, both also with 16 wickets.
