New Delhi, May 17: In the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Rajasthan Royals (RR) has set a target of 194 runs for Delhi Capitals (DC). RR aims to secure a victory to climb to the fourth position in the points table.
Batting first after losing the toss at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, Rajasthan Royals scored 193 runs, losing 8 wickets in their allotted overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal, along with Vaibhav Suryaanshi, managed only 19 runs in an 11-ball opening partnership. Jaiswal was dismissed for 12 runs, after which Dhruv Jurel partnered with Suryaanshi to add 70 runs off 34 balls, putting the team in a strong position.
Suryaanshi scored 46 runs off 21 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 5 fours before being dismissed. Jurel then teamed up with Riyan Parag for the third wicket, accumulating 72 runs in 41 balls, bringing the score to 161.
In the 15th over, Mitchell Starc caught captain Riyan Parag off Axar Patel’s bowling. Parag scored 51 runs from 26 balls, including 5 sixes and 3 fours. The next ball saw Donovan Ferreira also caught by Axar. Debutant Ravi Singh hit a boundary but was dismissed leg before wicket on the following delivery.
After losing three wickets in the 15th over, RR’s momentum slowed down. However, Dhruv Jurel continued to lead the charge, scoring 53 runs off 40 balls, including 2 sixes and 5 fours. For Delhi Capitals, Mitchell Starc was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 40 runs, while Lungi Ngidi and Madhav Tiwari claimed 2 wickets each.
Delhi Capitals fielded a team featuring KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Abhishek Porel, Sahil Parakh, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Axar Patel (captain), Madhav Tiwari, Tripurana Vijay, Lungi Ngidi, Mitchell Starc, and Mukesh Kumar.

Currently, Rajasthan Royals stands fifth in the points table with 6 wins out of 11 matches, while DC is in eighth place, having lost 7 out of 12 matches. The path to the playoffs appears nearly closed for them.
