Mumbai, May 14: In a significant development for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has signed Dyane Forster to replace the injured Jamie Overton. Overton is sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a right thigh injury.
The IPL announced on Thursday, “Chennai Super Kings has selected a player to replace Jamie Overton. Overton is out for the rest of the season due to a right thigh injury. Dyane Forster will join CSK for ₹75 lakh.” The South African all-rounder made his debut against New Zealand in March 2026 and has played five international matches, scoring 83 runs.
Due to his injury, Overton has returned to England. CSK stated on their social media account late Wednesday, “Jamie Overton has a right thigh injury and is returning to the UK for further investigation and treatment.”
Overton’s absence exacerbates CSK’s injury woes, as the team has struggled with player injuries since the season began. Nathan Ellis, Khaleel Ahmed, Ayush Mhatre, and Ramakrishna Ghosh are also unavailable. Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni has yet to play this season due to a calf injury.
The loss of Overton could be a major setback for CSK, as the right-arm fast bowler has been a key player this season. He has taken 14 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 17.78, placing him second on the team’s list of leading wicket-takers.
Currently, CSK is in the playoff race with 12 points from 11 matches, sitting fifth in the points table. They will face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their next match on May 15, aiming to strengthen their playoff chances. Meanwhile, LSG has already been eliminated from the title race.
