IPL 2026: Gujarat Titans Eye Second Title Amid Concerns Over Middle Order

New Delhi, March 26: The Gujarat Titans are on the hunt for their second title in IPL 2026. Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, the team’s pace attack looks formidable this season. However, concerns loom over their middle order.

Captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will once again open the innings for the team. Both players delivered impressive performances last season. In IPL 2026, the Titans will look to Jos Buttler for a strong showing, although his recent form has been less than stellar. Buttler struggled for runs during the T20 World Cup 2026, and the departure of Sherfane Rutherford has left a gap at the number four position.

Gujarat has acquired Glenn Phillips and Tom Banton in the auction, but both players have had lackluster records in the IPL. While Phillips performed well in the T20 World Cup 2026, the team lacks a reliable batsman to stabilize the faltering middle order. Fortunately, they have two capable finishers in Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia in the lower order. The addition of Jason Holder has also improved the team’s balance, as he can contribute significantly with both bat and ball.

The Titans’ greatest strength this season may well be their pace bowling. The team boasts a strong lineup with Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Ishant Sharma. Krishna was the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2025, while Siraj could prove to be a trump card in the upcoming season. Luke Wood and young Indian pacer Ashok Sharma are also solid options. However, Rashid Khan’s form was not up to par last season, and his performance will be crucial for Gujarat’s success.
