
New Delhi, May 8: In a thrilling encounter of IPL 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showcased an impressive performance, defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by 8 wickets on Friday. Chasing a target of 143 runs at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium, KKR achieved the score comfortably, losing just 2 wickets in 14.2 overs. This marks KKR’s fourth consecutive victory.
KKR’s innings began on a shaky note. Captain Ajinkya Rahane was run out after scoring 13 runs off 9 balls. Ankur Raghuwanshi was dismissed by Axar Patel for just 1 run. However, Finn Allen and Cameron Green steadied the innings.
The duo forged a remarkable partnership, putting together an unbeaten 116 runs for the third wicket off just 64 balls. Allen played a sensational knock, scoring an unbeaten 100 runs off 47 balls, including 5 fours and 10 sixes. Green contributed with 33 runs off 27 balls, hitting 2 sixes. The only wicket for DC came from captain Axar Patel.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals managed to score 142 runs, losing 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul provided a steady start, adding 49 runs for the first wicket. Rahul was dismissed for 23 runs off 14 balls. Nitish Rana had a disappointing outing, scoring only 8 runs.
Samir Rizvi was sent back to the pavilion by Sunil Narine for just 3 runs. Tristan Stubbs (2 runs) and captain Axar Patel (11 runs) also failed to make a significant impact. Nissanka scored 50 runs off 29 balls, hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes, while Ashutosh Sharma contributed 39 runs off 28 balls in the final overs.
For KKR, Kartik Tyagi took 2 wickets for just 25 runs in 4 overs, while Anukul Roy also claimed 2 wickets for 31 runs. This defeat marks the seventh loss for Delhi Capitals this season, making their path to the playoffs extremely challenging.
