IPL 2026: CSK Sets 181-Run Target Against SRH as Brevis Falls Short of Half-Century

Chennai, May 18: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has set a target of 181 runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 63rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. SRH aims to secure a victory to edge closer to the playoffs.

Winning the toss at MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK opted to bat first, scoring 180 runs while losing 7 wickets. The opening pair of Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad provided a solid start, contributing 31 runs in just 2.3 overs.

Samson scored 27 runs off 13 balls, hitting 6 boundaries before returning to the pavilion. Following him, Urvil Patel (13) partnered with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for a 17-run second-wicket stand.

Gaikwad, alongside Karthik Sharma, added 42 runs for the third wicket, bringing the team’s total to 90. Karthik scored 32 runs off 19 balls, including 2 sixes and 3 fours.

CSK lost their fourth wicket at a score of 100 when Gaikwad managed only 15 runs off 21 balls. Dewald Brevis then teamed up with Shivam Dube, adding 59 runs in 38 balls to bolster the score.

Brevis scored 44 runs off 27 balls, featuring 4 sixes and 2 fours, while Dube contributed 26 runs off 23 balls. For SRH, captain Pat Cummins took the most wickets, claiming 3, while Saqib Hussain secured 2. Prabhul Hinge and Ishan Malinga each took 1 wicket.

Under Ruturaj Gaikwad’s leadership, CSK fielded Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Urvil Patel, Karthik Sharma, Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, Prashant Veer, Akil Hossain, Noor Ahmad, Anshul Kamboj, and Spencer Johnson.

Meanwhile, SRH’s playing eleven included Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Heinrich Klaasen, Salil Arora, Smaran Ravichandran, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pat Cummins (captain), Shivang Kumar, Ishan Malinga, Saqib Hussain, and Prabhul Hinge.
