Ahmedabad, May 21: The 66th match of IPL 2026 is taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, featuring Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). CSK won the toss and chose to bowl first.
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad stated, “We will bowl first. There is some pace and bounce on the pitch, and we want to take advantage of it early. We have made two changes to the team. Matt Short is in for Veer. We aim to keep things simple and turn the situation in our favor.”
GT captain Gill commented, “We also wanted to bowl first, but there’s nothing we can do about it now. We have one change in our lineup, with Prasidh coming in for Sai Kishore. We hope to showcase our bowling performance. The job isn’t done yet, and we expect to play three good matches from here.”
This match marks the final league game for both teams. GT has already qualified for the playoffs, holding 16 points from 8 wins in 13 matches, placing them second in the standings. CSK, with 6 wins and 12 points from 13 matches, is currently seventh but still has a chance to qualify for the playoffs. A significant victory against GT could keep CSK’s playoff hopes alive. In their first encounter this season, GT defeated CSK by 8 wickets.
