New Delhi, March 27: The Punjab Kings, who reached the finals in IPL 2025, are looking strong on paper for the upcoming season. Their batting lineup appears powerful, and the bowling attack seems well-balanced. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, the team aims to end their title drought in IPL 2026.
The opening partnership of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh was instrumental last season, providing explosive starts. Prabhsimran scored 547 runs, while Priyansh contributed 475 runs. Shreyas Iyer played a crucial role at the number three position, and the team expects similar performances from their captain this year. With the addition of Michael Owen and Cooper Kanoli, the batting order looks even more formidable. Marcus Stoinis is expected to make significant contributions with both bat and ball.
Punjab Kings will also rely on Shashank Singh and Nehal Wadhera for impressive performances in IPL 2026. The team boasts promising young Indian batsmen like Vishnu Vinod, Musheer Khan, and Suryaansh Shedge, who can be utilized based on match conditions. The bowling attack appears well-rounded, led by Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh in pace bowling.
However, the team will miss Lockie Ferguson’s services in the early matches. Either Vaishak Vijaykumar or Yash Thakur may step up as the third pace bowler. With the acquisitions of Javier Bartlett and Ben Dwarshuis, Punjab Kings have bolstered their pace attack. The spin department will be led by Yuzvendra Chahal, who had an impressive IPL 2025. He will be supported by Harpreet Brar, and Praveen Dubey adds another option.
The only apparent weakness for Punjab Kings is their middle order. A disappointing performance in the finals against RCB last season highlighted this issue. The consistency of Marcus Stoinis, Nehal Wadhera, and Shashank Singh was lacking last season. Additionally, Josh Inglis will not be part of the team this year.
Here is the complete squad for Punjab Kings in IPL 2026:
