
Mumbai, May 11: In the 54th match of IPL 2026, the Mumbai Indians (MI) faced off against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium. Batting first, MI scored 166 runs after losing 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Mumbai’s innings got off to a rocky start after losing the toss. Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck early, dismissing Ryan Rickelton for just 2 runs in the first over. Rohit Sharma managed to score 22 runs, hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes off 10 balls before getting out. Captain Suryakumar Yadav continued his disappointing form, falling without scoring.
At 28 runs, MI found themselves in trouble with 3 wickets down. However, Naman Dheer and Tilak Varma steadied the innings, forming a crucial partnership of 82 runs for the fourth wicket off 57 balls. Naman scored 47 runs from 32 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes, while Tilak contributed 57 runs off 42 balls, hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. Will Jacks added only 10 runs, and Raj Bawa scored 16 runs off 14 balls before getting out.
Corbin Bosch and Deepak Chahar remained not out at 5 and 1 run, respectively. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s exceptional bowling continued, as he took 4 wickets for just 23 runs in his 4 overs. Josh Hazlewood, Romario Shepherd, and Rasikh Salam each claimed one wicket for RCB.
RCB, led by Rajat Patidar, featured star players such as Virat Kohli, Jacob Bethel, Jitesh Sharma (wicketkeeper), Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Suyash Sharma, and Rasikh Salam.
