IPL 2026: Bhuvneshwar Strengthens Hold on Purple Cap, Sudharsan Leads Orange Cap Race

New Delhi, May 18: In the IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings on Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two wickets, further solidifying his grip on the Purple Cap. Meanwhile, KL Rahul has surged ahead of Heinrich Klaasen in the race for the Orange Cap.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has claimed 24 wickets in 13 matches this season. Kagiso Rabada from Gujarat Titans follows closely with 21 wickets from the same number of matches, while Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings ranks third with 19 wickets in 12 matches.

Jofra Archer, after taking two wickets for 35 runs against Delhi Capitals, has climbed to fourth place among the leading wicket-takers this season. Prince Yadav from Lucknow Super Giants rounds out the top five with 16 wickets in 12 matches.

The Orange Cap currently adorns Sai Sudharsan, who has scored 554 runs at a strike rate of 157 in 13 matches this season. Shubman Gill is in second place with 552 runs from 12 matches. Continuing his impressive form, Virat Kohli played a powerful innings of 57 runs off 37 balls against Punjab Kings, placing him third in the Orange Cap race with 542 runs at a strike rate of 164 across 13 matches.

KL Rahul made a comeback into the top five batsmen with a score of 56 runs off 42 balls against Rajasthan Royals, now holding the fourth position with 533 runs in 13 matches. Heinrich Klaasen, the wicketkeeper-batsman from Sunrisers Hyderabad, has slipped to fifth place with 508 runs at a strike rate of 153 in 12 matches.
