
New Delhi, May 18: Delhi Capitals (DC) triumphed over Rajasthan Royals (RR) by five wickets in the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Sunday. This victory allowed DC to climb one spot in the points table, while RR slipped down one position.
In the IPL 2026 points table, Rajasthan Royals now stand sixth with six wins and six losses from 12 matches. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have secured six victories out of 13 games, placing them seventh.
Batting first after losing the toss at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Rajasthan Royals scored 193 runs, losing eight wickets. They faced an early setback at 19 runs when Yashasvi Jaiswal (12) was dismissed. However, Dhruv Jurel stabilized the innings, forming a crucial partnership of 70 runs with Vaibhav Suryaanshi off just 34 balls.
Suryaanshi contributed 46 runs off 21 balls, hitting three sixes and five fours. Dhruv then teamed up with captain Riyan Parag to add 72 runs for the third wicket in 41 balls, pushing the team to a competitive total.
Dhruv Jurel scored 53 runs off 40 balls, including two sixes and five fours, while Riyan Parag added 51 runs off 26 balls, featuring five sixes and three fours. For DC, Mitchell Starc was the standout bowler, claiming four wickets, with Lungi Ngidi and Madhav Tiwari taking two wickets each.
In response, Delhi Capitals chased down the target in 19.2 overs. The opening pair of Abhishek Porel and KL Rahul provided a solid start, amassing 105 runs in 61 balls.
Abhishek scored 51 runs off 31 balls, hitting one six and seven fours. KL Rahul then took charge, contributing 56 runs off 42 balls with four boundaries.
DC lost their second wicket at 122 runs, but captain Axar Patel stepped up, guiding the team to victory with four balls to spare. Axar remained unbeaten on 34 runs off 18 balls, hitting two sixes and two fours, while Ashutosh added 18 runs off five balls. For RR, Jofra Archer and Brijesh Sharma each took two wickets, while Dasun Shanaka claimed one.
