Ahmedabad, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : An Indigo flight traveling from Lucknow to Dammam was diverted to Ahmedabad on September 10 due to a bomb threat. The emergency landing occurred at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport around 5:45 PM after crew members discovered a note indicating a bomb on board.
All 133 individuals aboard, including 107 passengers and six crew members, were safely evacuated. Airport officials confirmed that security protocols were immediately activated following the landing.
Local police and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) initiated a thorough search of the aircraft, supported by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS). Fortunately, no suspicious items were found on the plane, and investigations into the authenticity of the threat are ongoing.
This incident follows another recent bomb threat that led to the diversion of an Air India Express flight from Dammam to New Delhi on August 31. In that case, a crew member found a note claiming there was a bomb, which was later determined to be a false alarm. Investigators had compared handwriting samples from passengers and crew, ultimately identifying a crew member as a suspect.
The latest threat comes amid a series of bomb threats reported in Gujarat, including threats made to courts in Ahmedabad and Surat earlier this month. Following those threats, police and security agencies conducted extensive searches, which were later deemed unfounded by Gujarat police.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as they investigate the recent spate of threats.
