Indias Foreign Minister Calls for End to Gulf and Ukraine Conflicts at UN General Assembly

At the UN, Indias Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar urges an end to conflicts in the Gulf and Ukraine, emphasizing the need for peace and security.

United Nations, September 27 (Daily Kiran) : India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar addressed the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, calling for an end to the ongoing conflicts in the Gulf region and Ukraine. He emphasized that these struggles threaten progress far beyond their immediate areas and are slowing down development efforts.

Jaishankar expressed India’s readiness to assist in improving conditions, particularly regarding food and energy security. He voiced deep concern over the continued fighting, highlighting the need for the safety of personnel working on maritime vessels and ensuring an uninterrupted supply of energy and food.

Regarding the Gulf region, he noted that the ongoing conflicts are exacerbating already challenging situations. Jaishankar appealed to all parties to exercise restraint, reduce tensions, ensure the safety of civilians, and maintain the free flow of energy and trade.

In reference to Ukraine, he reiterated the critical importance of safeguarding those working on ships and maintaining supplies of food and energy. He affirmed India’s support for ongoing efforts to bring about peace.

Recalling a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Jaishankar stated, “We must move towards peace, leaving behind the path of endless war.”

On the issue of West Asia, he reiterated India’s support for a two-state solution, advocating for Israel and Palestine to coexist peacefully as separate sovereign nations. He stressed that this is essential for long-term peace and noted that India is contributing to humanitarian aid and relief efforts for the Palestinian people.

Jaishankar’s remarks underscore India’s commitment to global peace and stability amid ongoing international conflicts.
