Ujjain, May 16: The Indian women’s cricket team visited the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, to seek blessings ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. Led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, the team participated in the Bharm Aarti ceremony.
Several players attended the temple with their families, praying for a stellar performance in the upcoming tournament. Wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia shared that visiting Mahakal brings her immense peace.
She mentioned that she had visited the temple last month and found solace in witnessing the Baba during the Aarti. Yastika noted that all players wanted to receive Mahakal’s blessings to ensure a successful tournament. Notably, the team also sought blessings after winning the ODI World Cup.
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to begin on June 12. India will kick off their campaign against Pakistan on June 14, followed by a match against the Netherlands on June 17. On June 21, the team will face a strong South African side at Old Trafford. The exciting clash against Bangladesh is scheduled for June 25, and India will conclude the group stage with a match against Australia on June 28.
After winning the ODI World Cup, the Indian team aims for a strong performance in T20s. Their performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup was disappointing, as they failed to reach the semifinals under Harmanpreet Kaur’s captaincy. However, the team has shown remarkable improvement in recent times, having defeated Australia in a three-match T20 series earlier this year. Despite a disappointing 1-4 series loss to South Africa in April 2026, the team remains optimistic.
