Glasgow, August 2: Indian boxers showcased their talent on the 10th day of the Commonwealth Games 2026, bringing home a total of 10 medals, including 7 golds. Gold medalist Ankush Panghal credited his victory to self-belief during the final match.
Ankush expressed his joy, stating, “Winning the gold medal feels amazing. I was trailing 0-5 in the first bout, which created pressure to turn things around. I just believed in myself, and it all worked out. I spoke to my family, and they are very happy. I want to dedicate this medal to my family and my coach. Winning here has boosted my confidence, and I aim to perform even better at the Asian Games.”
Female boxer Lovlina faced disappointment in the finals, settling for a silver medal. She shared, “I do feel a bit disappointed. I tried my best to win the gold, but I am happy with the silver as our team performed exceptionally well. This is my first medal at the Commonwealth Games, and I am proud of that. It would have been better to bring home a gold for my country. I will prepare for the Asian Games and aim for gold there.” Lovlina dedicated her medal to the flood victims in Assam.
Narender, who won a silver medal in the 90+ category, stated, “I gave my best performance. The opponent was from the South, and we fell short in our planning. He was evasive, making it difficult to catch him. I will make up for this loss at the Asian Games.”
Gold medalist Sachin Siwach shared his experience, saying, “After trailing in the first two rounds, I had no choice but to attack the opponent. I was down 2-3 in the first two rounds, and I knew I had only one chance in the final round. I had to push forward, and I believed I could win, and that’s exactly what happened.”
