Indian Boxers Shine at Asian Under-15 Boxing Championship

Tashkent, May 10: Indian boys showcased remarkable talent at the Asian Under-15 Boxing Championship 2026 semifinals. The ongoing event in Uzbekistan saw six young boxers advance to the finals, while seven others secured bronze medals.

In the 33 kg category, Yash Kumar achieved an impressive 5:0 victory against UAE’s Kian Iqbal to secure his spot in the finals. In the 37 kg category, Sastha Vasant Ashok Kumar triumphed over Kyrgyzstan’s Aziretali Sanjarbekov with a decisive referee decision in the second round.

Samir Bohra, competing in the 43 kg category, confidently defeated Uzbekistan’s Adizbek Ilkhombekov with a score of 4:1. Sudarshan Vasudev Chandak made a strong start in the 52 kg category, winning by RSC against Iran’s Amirmahdi Shad in the first round.

Mohammad Yasar claimed victory in the 58 kg category, defeating Iran’s Sayyidariyamohammad Musa 5:0. Raunak Parag Lokhande (67 kg) also secured a win by RSC in the first round against Kyrgyzstan’s Mukhamadali Berdikulov.

In other semifinal matches, Rohit Pothina (35 kg) was defeated 0:5 by Kazakhstan’s Jaksilik Yeremekuli, while Nitin (40 kg) lost a close match 2:3 against Uzbekistan’s Jasurbek Khairullaev.

In the 46 kg category, Nongpokangba Meitei Oina was narrowly beaten 2:3 by Uzbekistan’s Mansur Abdulkhamitov. Prashant in the 49 kg category lost 0:5 to Uzbekistan’s Sardor Omnboev. Harshvardhan Jeena (55 kg) faced a 0:5 defeat against Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Bakhtubaev. In the 64 kg category, Dev lost 4:1 to South Korea’s Hyunseok Yoo. Lastly, Sushant Jayani was defeated by RSC in the first round by Uzbekistan’s Ibrokhim Mirzakarimov in the 70+ kg category.
