New Delhi: To mark the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram,’ the Indian Army is set to organise special programmes across the country. Honouring this symbol of national pride and cultural heritage, the Army will present military band performances at prominent public locations from 19 to 26 January.
The events aim to highlight the emotional and patriotic significance of the national song while strengthening the spirit of nationalism and unity among citizens.
Under this nationwide initiative, military bands will perform across various command regions, key cities, and historic sites. Locations scheduled for these displays include Patna and Gaya in Bihar, Ranchi in Jharkhand, Lucknow and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.
Additional performances are planned in Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Gopalpur (Odisha), Bengaluru (Karnataka), and Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh). Maharashtra will host events in both Mumbai and Pune, while Hyderabad in Telangana, New Delhi’s India Gate, Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, Kargil in Ladakh, Jaipur in Rajasthan, and Naihati in West Bengal—the birthplace of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay—will also witness these patriotic musical presentations.
On 18 January, a special grand performance by the Army Symphony Band will be held at India Gate, New Delhi. This event will mark the beginning of the upcoming national celebrations with a memorable tribute.
Each military band performance will last approximately 45 minutes, scheduled between 2 PM and 5 PM.
This extensive campaign not only celebrates 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ but also serves as an inspiring effort by the Indian Army to connect with the public.
