Indian Army Detains 17-Year-Old Girl After She Crosses LOC in Rajouri

A 17-year-old girl was detained by the Indian Army after crossing the LOC from Pakistan-administered Kashmir into Rajouri, Jammu.

Rajouri, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : In Rajouri, Jammu, a 17-year-old girl was detained by the Indian Army after she crossed the Line of Control (LOC) from Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir. This incident occurred in the Naushera sector, where army personnel noticed suspicious activity during routine surveillance.

The girl, identified as S. Azeem, daughter of Mohammad Azeem from Khweirta in Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir, was stopped by soldiers near the LOC. Following initial questioning, she was handed over to local police for further investigation. Currently, the Naushera police are conducting inquiries into the matter.

During her preliminary interrogation, the girl claimed she had crossed the LOC unintentionally into Indian territory. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding her crossing.

Typically, individuals who accidentally cross the LOC are apprehended by the Indian Army and subsequently transferred to local police for identity verification and background checks. If confirmed that they entered by mistake, they are usually returned to Pakistan through designated crossing points.

The army utilizes a surveillance network to monitor crossings and ensures the safety of such individuals while exercising restraint. After initial questioning, the army coordinates with local police or security agencies to determine whether the crossing was accidental or if there were any malicious intentions.

The return process generally occurs at established LOC crossings and border points, such as Chakanda Bagh in Poonch, the Aman Setu in Baramulla/Uri, or the Tithwal/Semari sector, where civil and military officials are present.
