Indian among 18 people arrested in Nigeria for illegal bunkering

Nigeria , May 23 (Udaipur Kiran): The Nigerian Navy declared that an Indian sailor and 17 more have been arrested by over an attempt to illegally export robbed crude oil to Ghana.The arrested sailors were planning to move stolen crude oil from Nigeria with two foreign vessels.

Capt. Adegoke Ebo, executive officer of the Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder confirmed that the suspects and vessels have been shifted to the police at the naval base in Nigeria’s oil hub Port Harcourt, to carry out further probes on the suspects.

Capt Adegoke Ebo said, the suspects were on the verge of moving the crude oil to Ghana, before they were arrested by naval forces.Among those arrested was the Managing Director of Petrogress Incorporation in Nigeria, Osimili Adah.

Capt Adegoke Ebo said,”Our findings revealed that Adah has been actively involved in sourcing crude oil from Nigerian creeks and shipping it to Platon Gas Oil Refinery in Tema, Ghana without clearance and approval” .The identity of the Indian national arrested was not disclosed.
