India Sets Target of 252 Runs Against Australia in Second ODI

Hobart, February 27: The second match of the ODI series between the Australia and Indian women’s cricket teams is taking place at Ninja Cricket Stadium. The Indian team won the toss and opted to bat first, scoring 251 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.

The Indian innings started well, with Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana forming a solid opening partnership of 78 runs. Mandhana scored 31 runs off 37 balls, hitting 4 boundaries before being dismissed. Jemimah Rodrigues also fell cheaply, scoring just 11 runs. Following this, Pratika scored 52 runs but was dismissed as the third wicket, while Deepti Sharma managed only 1 run before being out.

After losing 4 wickets for just 103 runs, the Indian team found itself in a precarious position. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur stepped up, playing a crucial role in stabilizing the innings. She contributed significantly to the team’s total, scoring 54 runs off 70 balls, including 2 fours and 1 six, before being dismissed as the eighth wicket.

Amanjot Kaur scored 13 runs, while Richa Ghosh added 22 runs. Kashvi Gautam and Kranti Gaud contributed 25 and 19 runs, respectively. Vaishnavi Sharma, making her debut, remained unbeaten with 10 runs off 5 balls.

For Australia, Ashleigh Gardner and Alana King delivered impressive bowling performances. Gardner took 2 wickets for 39 runs in her 10 overs, while King also claimed 2 wickets, conceding 41 runs. Annabel Sutherland added 2 wickets for 37 runs in 7 overs, and both Megan Schutt and Nicola Carey took 1 wicket each.

Having lost the first match of the series, the Indian team aims to equalize the series with a win in this match.
