India Dominates League Stage at Pickleball World Cup, Securing 37 Medals

Da Nang, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : In the ongoing Pickleball World Cup in Da Nang, Vietnam, India has showcased an impressive performance, winning all three of its league matches against Antigua and Barbuda, Israel, and the Czech Republic. The Indian team completed the league stage without a single loss.

So far, India has amassed a total of 37 medals, including 6 gold, 16 silver, and 15 bronze, placing them fourth in the team medal tally. The professional Indian team, featuring players like Harsh Mehta, Arjun Singh, Anish Froilan, Aman Patel, Pearl Amalsadiwala, Naomi Amalsadiwala, Alia Ibrahim, and Mihika Yadav, achieved easy victories in the league stage. They defeated Antigua and Barbuda and Israel with a score of 6-0 and triumphed over the Czech Republic 5-1 in their final league match. Each contest consisted of six matches, including women’s doubles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles, women’s singles, and men’s singles. Next, the Indian team will face Portugal in the Round of 32 on Friday.

Captain Harsh Mehta expressed confidence about the team’s performance during the league stage. “The team’s morale is very high. We have started the tournament with positive energy and excellent results. Everyone is playing well, which is crucial for our success. We are mentally preparing for the elimination round tomorrow,” he said.

Under the leadership of IPA President Suryaveer Singh, India’s senior team also performed admirably on the first day, defeating Germany and Nepal 4-0, securing their place in the Round of 32. Singh expressed pride in the players’ individual performances and the team’s spirit. “I am very proud of all the players’ performances so far, and we are currently fourth in the medal tally. If we maintain this momentum, we are confident we can climb higher,” he stated.

– Vishal Chaudhary and Siddharth Reddy: Gold in Men’s Doubles <4.5 40+
– Bhushan Akut and Ashok Rohira: Gold in Men's Doubles 60+
– Harsh Mehta: Bronze in Men's Doubles Open
– Fireoz Zaidi: Gold in Women's Singles <4.5 40+

The tournament continues to unfold, with India aiming for more success in the upcoming matches.
