New Delhi, April 19 : The Indian Air Force on Tuesday successfully tested a BrahMos missile from a Su30-MkI aircraft on the Eastern seaboard. “Today on the Eastern seaboard, IAF undertook live firing of BrahMos missile from a Su30 MkI aircraft. The missile achieved a direct hit on the target, a decommissioned Indian Navy ship,” the IAF said in a tweet. The mission was undertaken in close coordination with Indian Navy, the IAF added. Another successful maiden, BrahMos firing was conducted by INS Delhi from an upgraded modular launcher. The firing demonstrated a long range strike capability of BrahMos alongwith validation of integrated network centric operations from frontline platforms, the Indian Navy said. India has conducted a series of BrahMos tests in last couple of months. Last month, successful test firing of extended range surface to surface Brahmos missile was conducted in Andaman and Nicobar islands. The Brahmos was also test fired from a land based launcher in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in February. Another successful test was conducted in January this year when the Brahmos was test fired from the Integrated Test Range Chandipur off Odisha. Developed by India-Russia joint venture BrahMos Aerospace, the missile is equipped with stealth technology and a guidance system with advanced software for precise target acquisition. The nuclear capable missile is one of the fastest supersonic cruise missiles in the world. It can be launched from submarine, ships, aircraft or land. ASU RNJ
