New Delhi, March 25 : Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday discussed the need to take forward “early and complete disengagement in remaining areas” and said that “continuation of the present situation is not in mutual interest.” After the Chinese Minister reached Doval’s office around 10 am, informed sources said the discussions were held between the two in a cordial atmosphere. The two sides discussed to remove impediments to allow the bilateral relationship to take its natural course and said that restoration of peace and tranquility will help build mutual trust and create an enabling environment for progress in relations, the sources added. Doval and the Chinese Minister felt the need to continue positive interactions at diplomatic and military levels for restoration of peace and tranquility. The two sides decided to ensure that actions by either side do not violate the spirit of equal and mutual security and pledged to work in the same direction and resolve outstanding issues as quickly as possible. The Chinese Minister invited Doval to visit China as they have been serving as the Special Representatives for boundary talks. Doval responded positively and stated that he could visit after “immediate issues” get resolved, the sources said. The border stand-off between India and China erupted on May 5, 2020 following a violent clash on Pangong Lake areas. ASU MR
