Imran’s aide on Balochistan reconciliation Shahzain Bugti quits federal cabinet

Islamabad, March 27 : Pakistan’s Jamhoori Watan Party leader and special assistant to the Imran Khan (SAPM) on reconciliation and harmony in Balochistan, Shahzain Bugti, resigned from the Federal Cabinet on Sunday citing a lack of development in the province. Bugti announced this while addressing a press conference in Islamabad alongside PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, in which he accused the PTI government of not carrying out the promised developmental work in Balochistan. Bugti also announced that “We are standing with the Pakistan Democratic Movement and will do whatever we can,” he said. Bugti had been appointed by Imran Khan as his special assistant last year in July soon after deciding to hold talks with disgruntled Baloch tribesmen to pave way for permanent peace and progress in Balochistan. He had been tasked with holding talks with peeved Baloch tribesmen on behalf of the government. Bugti’s resignation comes amid rising political tensions in the country ahead of the no-confidence vote submitted by the opposition against the Imran Khan. ACL1924
