Agartala, April 4 : A local court of Tripura’s Sepahijala district on Monday sent three youths including a teacher and an Imam to three days in judicial custody on the charge of anti-national activity. Booked for criminal conspiracy, attempting to wage war against the government of India and sedition under sections 120 (A), 121 and 124(A) respectively of the Indian Penal Code, the youths also had the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) slapped on them. They would be produced before the court again on Thursday. A Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB) team and Tripura police on Sunday night in a joint operation arrested the three youths from a village in the Sonamura subdivision under the Jatrapur police station area, a senior police officer said. They were identified as Imran Hossain (25), Hamid Ali (38) and Abul Qashem (32). Police said Imran Hossain is Imam in a local mosque while Hamid Ali is a farmer. Abul Qashem (32) is a teacher. The trio had been picked up from their homes in Khadyakhola village and subsequently arrested after interrogation based on inputs from the central agency. BB SSP
