ICC T20 Rankings: Abhishek Sharma Holds Top Spot, Suryakumar Yadav Climbs Rapidly

New Delhi: The latest ICC T20 batting rankings, released on Wednesday, highlight a significant rise for Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav. Following two half-centuries in the first three matches against New Zealand, Suryakumar has entered the top ten batsmen list, reflecting his strong performance.

After a disappointing 2025 season with no half-centuries, Suryakumar Yadav was absent from the top ten rankings. However, the beginning of 2026 has been impressive for the Indian captain. In the ongoing five-match T20 series against New Zealand, he scored 171 runs in the first three matches, including two half-centuries, remaining unbeaten in the last two games. His highest score in the series so far is 82. This performance has helped him jump five places to secure the seventh position.

Examining the top ten batsmen, India’s Abhishek Sharma continues to hold the number one position firmly. England’s Phil Salt is second, followed by India’s Tilak Varma in third place. England’s Jos Buttler is fourth, and Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan ranks fifth. Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka is sixth, just ahead of Suryakumar Yadav. Australia’s Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh occupy the eighth and ninth spots respectively, while New Zealand’s Tim Seifert is tenth. Both Head, Marsh, and Seifert have each dropped one place.

On the bowling front, India’s Varun Chakravarthy leads the T20 bowlers’ rankings. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is second, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga third, and New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy fourth. Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed has moved up one spot to fifth. England’s Adil Rashid is sixth, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman seventh, Australia’s Nathan Ellis is eighth, and Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman has climbed five places to ninth. Australia’s Adam Zampa holds the tenth position.
