Patna, April 2 : LJP (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan said that a number of allurements were offered to him by those in power after death of his father Ram Vilas Paswan but he preferred to choose path of struggle in larger interest of oppressed, poor and minorities. Paswan visibly annoyed over action of a central team of forcible vacation of his 12 Janpath bungalow in New Delhi, said on his arrival from New Delhi here that he was being harassed for not surrendering before those in power. A number of allurements were offered to him after death of his father Ram Vilas Paswan in October 2021 but he preferred to choose path of struggle in larger interest of poor, deprived and minorities, he remarked. “When I decided to contest 2020 Bihar Assembly elections separately from NDA, I was fully aware of its consequences”, LJP leader said adding that oneconvenient way for him was to bow down before those in power while the other way was to struggle for protecting rights of underprivileged but he preferred to choose the tough path of struggle. His father Ram Vilas Paswan had become Minister in 1989 but struggled hard for long 20 years after becoming MLA for the first time in 1989, he further added. Paswan said that he was the son of lion, a reference to his father Ram Vilas Paswan who had fought for justice of poorand deprived with undaunting efforts. A son of lion could never bow down and would continue to fight with all valour, he added. LJP leader said that the way he was ousted from 12 Janpath bungalow was very painful. Photos of his father and statue of Babasaheb Bheem Rao Ambedkar were thrown out on roads and all belongings were left littered around, he added. ” I am aware that I was not entitled for sprawling bungalow allotted to my father and I would have vacated it on my own if sufficient time was given by authorities”, Paswan said adding that he was not at all bothered for retaining 12 Janpath bungalow but was more concerned to fight for providing shelters to poor and deprived. Bungalow, Ministry and government facilities did not attract him as he could have got it easily by just bowing down before those in power and compromising with principles set by his father Ram Vilas Paswan, he added. LJP leader, in his philosophical tone, said that his name was Chirag, a lamp. As all were aware that a lamp had no fixed place but it enlightened everywhere it moved. Paswan said that his father had a long political career for more than 50 years. His father was active at national level politics for several decades but never bothered to arrange for alternative accommodation in New Delhi, he pointed out and added it reflected the fact that he was so selfless and remained committed to the cause of poor and deprived.
