
Hyderabad, May 12: Hyderabad police have arrested ten individuals in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old engineering student, which stemmed from a romantic relationship. The arrests were announced on Monday, with the suspects presented to the media.
The murder case came to light three days after the student, known as Bommanyavan or Akhil, was killed on May 7 in the Chilkalguda police station area.
According to police, the girl’s father, her uncle, and other relatives are implicated in the case. Deputy Commissioner of Police Rakshita Krishna Murthy informed the media that the crime occurred on the night of May 7 in Indira Nagar Colony, Medibavi. Charges of murder, unlawful assembly, and possession of deadly weapons have been filed against the suspects.
Investigations revealed that the girl’s family opposed her relationship with the victim and had warned him to stay away. The suspects had planned the murder four days in advance and had been monitoring the victim’s movements.
On the night of the incident, when the victim was at a friend’s house, the assailants arrived and initiated an argument. They then attacked him with a knife, stabbing him 10 to 15 times before fleeing the scene.
The DCP stated that six of the suspects were present at the crime scene, while four others, including the girl’s father, uncle, and other relatives, were also involved. Most of the suspects are aged between 17 and 23, with one being a minor.
A case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code based on a complaint from the victim’s father, Srinivas. The main accused, Allaboina Sai Kiran, also known as Sai, has a history of criminal activity, including previous attempts at murder.
Other suspects include Rajam Paramesh Kumar Yadav, known as Don, Rajam Vamsi Krishna, known as Rakhi, Rajam Manish, known as Bichu, Shrigiri Rahul, Kuchala Shiv Nandan Yadav, Rajam Narasimha Yadav, Rajam Srisailam Yadav, and Rajam Mallesh Yadav, known as Mallanna.
Police investigations also revealed that the main accused, Sai Kiran, intended to marry Chandrika, who was previously in a relationship with the victim.
Days before the murder, the suspects held meetings to plot the crime and continuously tracked the victim’s activities.
Authorities have recovered a knife used in the crime, an electric scooter, and several mobile phones. Police have issued a warning that any attempts at violence, revenge, or disruption of law and order will not be tolerated, and strict legal action will be taken.
