New Delhi, February 14: A sense of pride and excitement filled the air in Assam’s Moran Bypass on Saturday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on the national highway. This historic achievement has been hailed by local residents as an unimaginable moment of pride for the region.

After the inauguration, a local resident expressed, “We never dreamed such a significant development would happen in our area. Today, the Prime Minister has exceeded our expectations.”

Another individual stated, “We take pride in the fact that the Prime Minister has established this facility for the country’s security in our locality.”

A third resident remarked, “We never imagined that such work could be done on the road, but today we witnessed it with our own eyes and feel immensely proud.”

According to government officials, this facility has been developed in the Moran area of Dibrugarh district and is the first of its kind in Northeast India. Immediately following the inauguration, the Prime Minister also witnessed an air show by the Indian Air Force. During this event, Rafale, Sukhoi, and MiG fighter jets successfully took off and landed on the specially prepared highway strip, showcasing their operational capabilities.

Officials noted that nearly 100,000 people were present to witness this historic occasion. Located in Upper Assam, this facility is considered a significant strategic enhancement for India’s military infrastructure in the Northeast.

The Moran ELF is designed to serve as an alternative landing site in case airports are unavailable due to emergencies or operational reasons. This will strengthen rapid response capabilities near sensitive border areas and greatly enhance national security preparedness.
